I’m fascinated by the explosion of autumn colours each year ! The smell of the earth with the falling leaves, the changes in temperature and the colours of the trees… Fall is inspiration for many writers as well…. Time to paint, to eat with friends in the evening with a nice dinner and glass of wine, or to read a book with a cup of tea…

I’m kind of obsessed to try to find the best colours to fit in my autumn palette. I love to make seasonal palettes ! And I noticed that these orange and earth colours make me the most happy, together with the pinks of spring!

So I decided to make an online Skillshare class about it: first I explain how I collect autumn colours for my palette, and then I paint some of my favorite trees and their leaves.

What are your favorite autumn trees around you?

And what are your autumn colours in your palette?

Here’s mine! I put some autumn greens as well…. because it’s not all yellows, oranges and reds…

And some beautiful words by Rainer Maria Rilke to finish with… “At no other time does the earth let itself be inhaled in one smell, the ripe earth; in a smell that is in no way inferior to the smell of the sea, bitter where it borders on taste, and more honeysweet where you feel it touching the first sounds. Containing depth within itself, darkness, something of the grave almost.'”
